Coventry Blaze press release

Genting Casino Coventry Blaze are pleased to confirm they have signed British defenceman Steven Chalmers on a permanent basis.

The Kirkcaldy-born 20-year-old initially agreed a two-way deal from English Premier League side Telford Tigers this season but expressed a desire to play full-time at Rapid Solicitors Elite League level.
Coach Paul Thompson said: “When Steven became available I made my move because I know he was also talking to other teams.
“Steven is an exciting talent and he wants to play at the top level on a regular basis. I am delighted he will be doing that with us.
“I have liked Steven for a long time now. We even looked at him when I was coach of the Great Britain senior team.
“He joined up with us for pre-season and I was really impressed with how he played. He is a smart player and someone we can look to develop."
Chalmers enjoyed a fine 2011/12 Elite League campaign with Dundee Stars and prior to that he had a season with Braehead Clan having spent two years at the Ontario Hockey Academy.
Blaze take on Sheffield Steelers at the Skydome in the Rapid Solicitors Elite League on Sunday September 16 (5.15pm face-off). Tickets can be purchased by ringing the Box Office on 02476 630693 (option 0).
