Ceman expects MUST SEE game on Sunday

September 10, 2010

Dundee CCS Stars’ Elite Ice Hockey League adventure at Dundee Ice Arena continues this Sunday with a battle against Nottingham Panthers.

Stars’ roster will be strengthened by the addition of Peter Cartwright who arrived in Dundee on Wednesday and will make his debut for the Stars in Sheffield on Saturday where the Stars will be looking for an improvement on last Sunday’s disappointing score-line against the Steelers.

Coach Dan Ceman commented, “It's been a very productive week this week and we've worked on some ways to make us more competitive against Sheffield. Their skill level definitely gave us some problems last week and we will have to play more physical and much tighter defensively to be successful. The process of improving our game and learning how to function as a cohesive unit won't happen overnight but if we can continue to improve and learn week after week I believe that we have the team to cause a lot of problems this season. It was definitely nice to see Peter Cartwright on the ice this week and he will be an integral part to any success we have.”

Ceman went on to say, “Our home game on Sunday definitely excites me. Nottingham's team is very solid throughout and their depth will create problems for us. However, from what I've seen they play a more power-based, physical game which should suit our game a bit better than Sheffield's. I expect a much more physical game Sunday with plenty more fireworks. I can see it being a fun game to play and certainly one that from a spectator's standpoint will be a great one to watch.”

General Manager Alex Cram added, “Our first home game in the Elite league was a not only a massive event for the team and the fans but also for Dundee Ice Arena staff. We only had a few months to make all the necessary changes in the arena, from a major overhaul of the Stars’ dressing room right down to a new Hot Dog stand. A new ticket system and changes to the entrances certainly made for a smoother entry for the public with minimal queuing on the night. A new Tea and Coffee area took the pressure off the Cafe during the intervals and all in all I felt the whole event went really well, considering we had a crowd in excess of 1500. My staff pulled out all the stops and are now looking forward to the next home game, and hopefully another big crowd.”

Ticket sales are going well and while it is expected that tickets will still be available on the night, Dundee Ice Arena are recommending that you purchase your tickets prior to the game if possible.

Doors will open one hour before face-off at 17:30 and it is recommended that you arrive as early as possible to avoid delays. Face-off for Sunday’s game is at 18:30.
