Coventry Blaze press release
Genting Casino Coventry Blaze can confirm National Hockey League forward Matt Beleskey will be heading home after tomorrow’s Rapid Solicitors Elite League game against Sheffield Steelers at the Skydome.
With talks of the NHL starting in the next couple of weeks, Beleskey, who has posted 30 points (10 goals and 20 assists) in 25 games for Blaze since arriving in October, is returning to Anaheim Ducks.
Coach Paul Thompson has lavished praise on Beleskey, 24, for the positive impact he has made at the club.
He said: “We all knew this day was going to come. But if the NHL does not start, Matt will be heading back so you never know.
“Matt has been a model professional, he is a great guy and he is so committed. We are not the NHL but he has bought into everything and has never once complained or asked for anything. He has just been one of the boys.
“We have been very lucky to attract a player of his ability and we all hope he goes on to have a glorious NHL career. I think there will be a few more fans of the Ducks now and all of us will be looking closely to see how he does.
“I just cannot speak highly enough of Matt. He is always the first on the ice and the last one off it. We have been very lucky to have him. He has been a credit to himself and the club and he has been great to work with. We have enjoyed having him here.
“He feels bad leaving with us already a few bodies down but he has to do what he has to do. I just hope we can give him an unbelievable reception tomorrow night.”
